−Louis Cartier designed the original Tank in 1917, said to be inspired by the shape of military tanks he'd seen on the front lines, and the silhouette has barely changed since. This one keeps to that rectangular case, a silver dial with Roman numerals, blued steel hands, and a railroad-track minute ring running just inside the edge. A sapphire cabochon sits on the crown, a detail Cartier has used across the Tank family for decades. Quartz movement inside, water-resistant to 30 meters, on a stainless steel bracelet sized at 14.5 cm. The case measures 24.4mm, small and rectangular in the way the Tank has always been worn, closer to a piece of jewelry than a sports watch.
